A last minute announcement let us know that a title would be on the line tonight, and that match took place to close out Raw’s first hour.

Tonight saw Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defend the titles against Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. This was be the champs’ second defense against the remnants of the Club. Anderson defeated Cesaro in singles action two weeks ago.

Sheamus and Cesaro had just announced themselves for the Royal Rumble earlier in the evening through social media.

Chaos reigned in the the tag match-up, getting to its craziest point when Sheamus inadvertently knocked out the referee. In the ensuing brawl, the Club went for a pin, which a replacement referee rushed to count–1, 2, 3, the Club are your new Tag Team Champions!

But then the original ref came to and changed the decision to a disqualification victory. Sheamus and Cesaro are still the tag team champions.

It’s a solid way to keep the feud’s drama going, though certainly a disappointment for Club fans–especially since SmackDown handled a similar situation in a much more satisfying way very recently.
