Which NXT Stars Will Be Backstage at the Rumble? Quick Update

If you’re hoping for a hot spoiler on which NXT stars are headed for the main roster at the Royal Rumble, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.

According to PWInsider, the full list of NXT stars scheduled to be backstage this Sunday is, well… all of them. Surprise! Unless WWE is planning a full-on invasion story, it seems this move is to clamp down on rampant rumor-mongering and speculation from certain internet outlets. But we wouldn’t know anything about that.

NXT Takeover: San Antonio is scheduled to take place in the Freeman Colosseum, just a few minutes away from the Royal Rumble’s Alamodome venue.

A lot of speculation has suggested Samoa Joe as a shoe-in for a Rumble debut. He hasn’t appeared on NXT programming for some time since his loss of the championship, and isn’t scheduled for a match at Takeover this Saturday.

Tye Dillinger is also a big fan pick for the Rumble, since WWE fans increasingly awash in “10” chants would love a #10 debut for Dillinger.

Any number of other NXT stars could conceivably make a debut this Sunday. Shinsuke Nakamura or Bobby Roode, depending on the outcome of Saturday’s NXT Championship match, would be major picks.
