Finn Balor has been a figure of major speculation for the Royal Rumble, and now it seems there’s reason to reignite those rumors.

According to PWInsider, Finn is scheduled for a medical examination this week that could clear him in time to return in the Royal Rumble.

Granted, that’s a very big maybe–but relatively recent reports have suggested that Finn would be out until March. That would be soon enough to appear at WrestleMania, but definitely not soon enough to secure a main stage title match in the Royal Rumble.

Finn became the first Universal Champion in his pay-per-view debut, setting him up for greatness on Raw after an excellent run in NXT. Unfortunately, he was injured in that same match, suffering a severe shoulder problem that required major surgery.

If cleared, the former champion would certainly be a favorite to win the titular battle royal.

Just recently Finn joked with fans on Twitter that the odds of his returning at the Royal Rumble were “30-1,” a reference to the 29 other men he would face at the event. Perhaps it won’t be such a joke after all.
