Of all the returns that WWE could put together in time for WrestleMania, the biggest one that’s even possible is Kurt Angle.
According to this week’s Wrestling Observer (subscription required), Kurt Angle is telling promoters he’s only doing two more matches on the indie circuit: one with Cody Rhodes, and one with Alberto Del Rio. After that, Angle claims, he’s bound for WWE in April.
April, of course, features this year’s WrestleMania, which would be the logical place to debut Angle if he’s not ready for the Rumble.
The reason we say that Angle “claims” this is that, as Dave Meltzer notes, Kurt’s people have been making the same statement for some time and WWE continues to deny it.
Angle retired from TNA earlier this year, and he’s made his desire to return to WWE. The bad blood between him and World Wrestling Entertainment mean that it’s ultimately Vince’s call.
Does that mean Angle’s return is impossible? It’s certainly no more unlikely than Ultimate Warrior or Goldberg’s comebacks were. Just take what Kurt Has to say with an extra dose of salt.
We’d love to see Kurt back in WWE, even if only for one more match. What about you? Let us know what you think of an Olympic return in the comments below, or over on Facebook!
