The outcome of the Royal Rumble currently leaves us with John Cena as WWE Champion and Randy Orton as the challenger to that title at WrestleMania. Understandably, fans have grown a bit tired of that matchup.
While Orton and Cena have never had a singles match at WrestleMania–though it’s worth noting a triple threat WWE Championship match including Triple H–their rivalry had been a staple of WWE for so long that another match between them isn’t exactly high on fans’ wishlists.
Well, worry not, because according to today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, there are no current plans for a Cena versus Orton match at WrestleMania. As previously reported, the current plan is for Wyatt to take the WWE Championship, likely at Elimination Chamber, and face Orton on the grand stage.
So what does that mean for Cena? Well, we heard rumblings of Cena vs. Joe not too long ago, but based on Joe’s appearance on Raw it seems those plans have changed. On WOR, Meltzer was unsure of the specifics, but did say he got the impression the plans for Cena “wouldn’t be celebrated.”
