The Superstar Shakeup saw some big changes on both Raw and SmackDown, but we still don’t have a clear picture what’s going on with many wrestlers at their new homes.
The New Day was a major acquisition for Tuesday nights, as the blue brand’s tag team division has been struggling despite the presence of some major talent. So what’s the team going to be doing as part of SmackDown?
Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be waiting a bit to find out. According to PWInsider, WWE officials are considering holding back the New Day’s debut until Kofi Kingston recovers from his surgery. It seems that the surgery is fairly routine, so it shouldn’t keep the group out of action for too long.
The on-screen story suggests that Kofi’s injury was the result of an attack by the Revival, but it seems the truth is that Kingston was being written off TV to cover a surgery he was already in need of.
The New Day are your longest-reigning tag team champions of all time, and it wouldn’t be unrealistic to expect them to move into immediate title contention against the Usos. What do you want to see from the New Day on SmackDown? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook!
