Noam Dar hasn’t been on top even in the comparatively small pond of the Cruiserweight division, but he has been a mainstay of the purple roster since his debut. Even if only because WWE officials really like the way he says “Alicia Fox.”
Unfortunately, it seems that Dar’s fortunes are fading. According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), he was injured on Raw during the match with Austin Aries.
The details of the injury are not yet clear, but he did miss 205 Live this week and a planned match with Rich Swann. He will be examined on Sunday to determine how long he’ll be out of action.
Dar’s absence won’t be felt at WrestleMania, since the only Cruiserweight match on display is the one between Aries and Neville, and even that has been relegated to the pre-show. (Or, as Austin would say, he’s been given the opportunity to “elevate” the pre-show.) But it does eliminate 205 Live’s biggest secondary storyline.
Injuries have been hitting the 205 Live roster with alarming regularity, and WWE’s got to be concerned with how to balance the high-flying style that makes the division matter against the need to have these wrestlers not be put out of action every other week.
