Roman Reigns didn’t waste time calling his shot for his rematch.
During the Nov. 23 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” WWE COO Triple H announced that on Dec. 13, live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, Sheamus will defend his newly won WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match at the “TLC” pay-per-view.
As previously reported, Sheamus won the championship at “Survivor Series” when he cashed in his Money In The Bank contract on an unsuspecting Reigns. Reigns had just defeated Dean Ambrose in the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament, and confetti started raining down upon him. It was at that point that Triple H made his way down to the ring, offering a celebratory handshake to Reigns. Reigns decided to spear WWE’s COO, causing enough of a distraction for Sheamus to hit Reigns with a “Brogue Kick.” After a Reigns kick out at two, Sheamus would hit a second “Brogue Kick” to claim the championship.
During the “Monday Night Raw” segment, Triple H stated that Reigns missed his opportunity to remain the WWE World Heavyweight Champion when he chose to spear him as opposed to shaking his hand after his tournament victory. Triple H then went on to state that Sheamus seized the opportunity, which is why he is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Sheamus would then come down to the ring, expressing that nothing could ruin his good mood. As he continued antagonizing fans, Reigns would come to the ring-demanding his title rematch for later in the night. The Authority then went on to claim that Reigns was in no place to make demands, and that he would receive his rematch when they saw fit. Suddenly, a returning Rusev attacked Reigns, which led to Triple H announcing this championship match when he returned to the entrance ramp.
Will we see the resurrection of “The Roman Empire” or will “The Celtic Warrior” continue to entertain us as WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
Editor’s Note:
I unfortunately saw the Sheamus cash-in coming a mile away, as it makes more sense right now to have Reigns chase the title. However, I was hoping for a heel turn involving Ambrose, but I guess we will have to wait. I know a lot of fans are extremely displeased with Sheamus as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but I am looking forward to a fantastic, stiff match between these two men. Reigns will be champion at some point, now just isn’t that time.
