WWE has responded to the legal document CM Punk’s attorneys sent their offices recently. However, it comes not in the form of a literal statement, but WWE’s response can be found on WWEShop.com.

Most of the merchandise featuring CM Punk in the Alumni section of WWEShop.com has been removed, and the remaining items marked down to nearly nothing. As previously reported, Punk’s lawyers recently sent the offices of WWE a 22-page letter discussing the company’s lack of compensation to their client for use of his likeness and name on merchandise and in the upcoming video game release, “WWE 2K15.”

Punk’s contract with WWE expired in July, and somewhere along the way, the company decided to stop payment on his royalty checks. It was initially reported that Punk was still receiving royalty checks for merchandise even though he refused to work the last six months of his professional contract. The reason behind his continued compensation was due to an agreement made between WWE and Punk that reportedly stated as long as neither party defamed the other during Punk’s departure, he would still be paid.

At some point either during the initial six months of Punk walking out on the company, or shortly after his contract officially expired in July, WWE decided they would no longer pay Punk anything due to breach of contract. They were then served the letter from Punk’s attorneys shortly after WWE and 2K announced that Punk was to be a major player in the upcoming “WWE 2K15” video game.

The game’s release, which is currently advertised for Oct. 28 domestically, may even be delayed due to Punk taking legal action against WWE. As far as WWE’s immediate response, they currently have five items on Punk’s alumni merchandise page, including the “CM Punk: Best in the World” DVD, and every item have been drastically reduced. The DVD, for example, is only $4.99.

The price changes were noticeable during the Sept. 8 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” when meme’s including images of all of Punk’s items, including the BluRay version of “Best in the World,” were seen listed as $2.99. Some items are now less than a dollar, proving that WWE is responding to Punk’s letter in a roundabout way, and charging practically nothing for his merchandise in order to only have to pay him cents-on-the-dollar when it comes to royalties.

Editor’s Note:
I cannot WAIT to see the fallout of all of this. I really hope we get the ACTUAL story about what has happened between Punk and WWE over the last nine months soon. Should make for a great sh*t show of a dramatic tale.
