As of 8:15pmET during Monday night’s edition of RAW, the WWE Championship has been vacated. Daniel Bryan, who won the title from Randy Orton one night prior at Night of Champions, was stripped of the championship from Triple H at the beginning of the show.

F4Wonline.com is reporting that a new WWE Champion will most likely be crowned at WWE Battleground. There may be a tournament to decide two top contenders in the weeks leading up to the new WWE PPV, or the tournament could happen during Battleground. Many expect Randy Orton to recapture the title, as local ads in Boston are promoting Bryan vs. Orton for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series in November.

This would be the first WWE Championship Tournament since July of 2011 when CM Punk left with the WWE title, and the company used a tournament to crown a brand new champion. John Cena would ultimately recapture the strap before Punk would return claiming to be the true WWE Champion.
