In a recent live edition of “The Steve Austin Show,” Vince McMahon issues an apology to CM Punk. Punk spoke out on his 2014 exit from WWE in a recent edition of Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast, stating that WWE fired him on June 13, which was the day he married now wife, and current WWE superstar, AJ Lee.
During the Dec. 1 edition of Austin’s podcast, which aired live on the WWE Network, Austin asked McMahon if he wanted to talk about Punk. McMahon said, “yes,” and then issued an apology to Punk in regards to receiving his “severance papers” on his wedding day.
McMahon went on to say he had no idea that the company would be issuing Punk his pink slip on June 13, and that he was sorry for that. He also went on to say that he hopes that he and Punk can do business again one day. McMahon and Austin at one time had a “Punk-like” situation, where Austin left the company. However, he ultimately came back to work.
McMahon touched on other “career ending” moments he had with former talent, such as Hulk Hogan, but that he worked it out with those talents and was able to do business with them down the line. He hopes that the company and Punk can get to that place one day, and do business with each other once again.
The WWE CEO did go on to say he did not listen to Punk’s interview with Cabana, but he is aware of what was said throughout the podcast.
Editor’s Note:
Nice that McMahon actually did talk about Punk. Seemed a bit fake, but not at the same time. There was a weird polarity in his comments.
