A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on the WWE’s immediate plans for Roman Reigns of The Shield. The report states that Reigns is expected to be the next “golden boy” of the WWE due to his looks, size, and ability, and that he will immediately be given a push in that direction at the 2014 Royal Rumble.

Many “smart wrestling fans,” or “smarks,” have been predicting that the WWE may book Reigns as a dominant figure during the 2014 Royal Rumble Match. This report claims that this is in fact what the WWE is planning to do, and Reigns will have a very strong presence during the annual thirty-man “over-the-top-rope” battle royal.

The WWE has been teasing at a Shield break-up for weeks. The finish from their latest PPV match, which was a Three-on-One Handicap Match with CM Punk at December 15th’s “WWE TLC,” exists as a catalyst for more dissension between the three men, as Reigns speared Dean Ambrose costing them the match, instead of spearing Punk. The WWE is planning on splitting the three men up possibly just before WrestleMania XXX, where a match between all three, or a two-on-one battle may take place, with Reigns receiving the big babyface push in the process.
