Christian was indeed kept off of WWE Main Event due to a slight concussion. As we previously reported, Christian was oddly removed from “WWE Main Event’s”…main event…just before the program went live on March 25.
WWE waited until “WWE Main Event” went to air before they offered any sort of explanation as to why “Captain Charisma” was being removed from the Intercontinental Championship match scheduled for the program, but when they did, the news was the sort that has been all to familiar with Christian over the years. A concussion killed his momentum.
The “Main Event” commentary team announced that Christian had suffered a slight concussion during the Number One Contender Fatal-4-Way Match on “Monday Night Raw,” and that he was not medically cleared to compete on “Main Event.” WWE.com would confirm this in their “Main Event” results column, saying,
“Despite winning the opportunity to battle Big E for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw, it was revealed on Main Event that Christian had sustained a slight concussion during the intense Raw Fatal 4-Way Match and could no longer compete.
Christian has been plagued with injuries over the extent of his career, most notably suffering a number of concussions (both legitimate and worked). His current injury seems legitimate however, and one has to wonder if this will affect his involvement in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX.
Christian isn’t expected by many backstage to re-sign with WWE once his contract expires very soon. This kind of situation could help push Christian in one direction more definitively than the other.
