The Ultimate Warrior recently sat down with Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News to talk about his involvement in the upcoming video game, WWE 2k14. During the interview, Warrior not only touches on his role in the game, but he also shares his thoughts on the current WWE product, what he thinks of CM Punk, and more. He even shares a memory of the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
On if Warrior has played WWE 2K14:
“Earlier. They turned it on, and my daughter played it a little bit. I don’t play the video games. Well, I did. I played, but I got my rear end kicked. But I don’t regularly play the games, no.
It doesn’t mean to me what you think it does. It doesn’t mean that to me. I can’t look at it and just be like it’s so simple that it’s cool. It makes me think about my life, it makes me think about those times, it makes me think about what kind of human being I was.
It makes me think about what kind of attitude I had, that nobody was going to beat me. The hair was really weird. It makes me think of the logo, painting that on my face every night, and it’s a brand. People see that on something, and they think that’s the Ultimate Warrior’s thing, all these years later.”
On if he watches the current WWE product and has any favorites:
“I know some of the characters, but I don’t watch it. I like all the guys. I guess because I don’t know anybody, I like them all.
You would think maybe I would go for a Ryback guy. He’s impressive. He’s a monster of a guy. I don’t go against him, but I’m indifferent.”
Warrior’s thoughts on CM Punk:
“I know a little about CM Punk, in that he does his own thing. I’m inspired by people who do that in their own life. That they just do their own thing no matter what the consequences are.”
Warrior shares a road story about Randy Savage:
“I always loved working with Randy. He was so intense. In public, he spoke like he did in his promos. I remember one time, he came out to stay with me in Arizona. And he was there for a couple days. We went out to eat one night.
I said, “Randy, just do me a favor, don’t say anything. Just enjoy the food and we’ll go.” Because we were going to go to the gym after.
About a half-hour of being there, he said something about the food being good. It was all kinds of chatter going on, people talking. As soon as he said that to me, the whole place went absolutely totally dead silent. Everybody was leaning in their ear, trying to figure out where that voice came from. Then that was it, we were there signing autographs for the next two hours.”
