WrestlingNewsWorld.com is reporting that prior to WrestleMania 29, The Rock and the WWE may have had a falling out. WWE originally thought that The Rock would work the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV, as he was billed as being on the card for months. However, there are sources saying that the relationship between the WWE and Dwayne Johnson began to turn sour just days before the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania.

According to WrestlingNewsWorld’s anonymous source,  which should be taken with a grain of salt, The Rock reportedly told WWE in some form or fashion that he would not be wrestling at Extreme Rules. Apparently the company had a triple threat match booked for the WWE title involving Rock, John Cena and CM Punk. The finish, which Rock hated, would be Rock getting pinned by Cena, as the WWE didn’t want Punk losing out-right on PPV four months in a row. The Rock, not wanting to job two months in a row, asked for things to be wrapped up in Wrestlemania 29’s main event.

It is said that the WWE began to struggle with ideas after the Rock backed out, and not having him any longer for their May PPV had a backstage affect they did not expect. Apparently, Ryback was scheduled to go over Mark Henry at Wrestlemania, but it was decided that Henry would be challenging Cena for the WWE title at Extreme Rules. This led to Ryback’s loss at ‘Mania. Ryback was reportedly “very upset” about jobbing on PPV yet again, especially when preliminary plans had him winning the World Heavyweight Championship on “the Grandest Stage of them All”. Henry was also rumored to not want to return unless his character was promised a push. Over the last couple of weeks, it was decided that Cena vs. Henry may not be strong enough to headline the Extreme Rules PPV, and the Henry vs Cena vs Ryback triple threat match was put into place.

WWE was then wanting Rock to work an angle, possibly with Brock Lesnar, the night after WrestleMania 29 on Raw. However, sources are stating that Rock isn’t completely sold on working with Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX, which is what the angle would have set up, and that The Rock thinks a match vs Undertaker at that ‘Mania would be bigger. This is where rumors of The Rock’s injury being fake come into play. There are some within the WWE questioning it, saying he didn’t appear on Raw because he didn’t want to get stuck starting a ‘Mania program with Lesnar. This of course is only a rumor, and we are still moving forward under the idea that The Rock’s abdominal injury is legitimate.

Some are asking if The Rock’s injury is real.  Some are asking if he will even come back to WWE. We believe he will be back either for SummerSlam or at least in time for WrestleMania XXX, but all’s fair in love and rumors.
