Former WWE Champion The Rock comments on the current Hulk Hogan controversy in a recent promotional panel during a Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills, California on July 30. As widely reported, Hogan was fired then scrubbed from WWE after an audio transcription of a sex tape filmed without the WWE Hall of Famer’s knowledge was leaked onto the Internet on July 24.
The Rock chimed in on the situation during the panel when asked about Hogan and the controversy. He said,
“I was pretty disappointed with what I heard, like all of us, by the way. I’ve known Terry for a lot of years, my dad helped train him in Florida in the ’70s when he was breaking into the business. My uncles helped train him too as well. I have not known the man to be racist.
It’s funny, it’s one of those things where—and not justifying what he said—we’ve all talked trash, especially in private. He said what he said, and he’s paying the price.”

Editor’s Note:
Rock hits it on the head. There’s no justifying what Hogan said, but we’ve all said hurtful, judgmental, and hateful things about someone else before. We’re human, and we make mistakes. However, there are usually penalties for said mistakes, especially when that thing that was said or done is recorded and able to be played or read whenever someone wants.
