The New Age Outlaws will defend their WWE Tag Team Championship titles against Cody Rhodes and Goldust inside of a steel cage during the Feb. 3 edition of “Monday Night Raw.” The match was announced on Jan. 29 by WWE COO Triple H in one of his weekly exposés with Michael Cole.
Triple H and Cole began their weekly interview discussing Brock Lesnar’s latest terrorizing attack on Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, and a WWE official. Lesnar was “fined” for his actions against the referee that was assigned to his match with Big Show at the 2014 “Royal Rumble” Pay-Per-View, but the actions taken against Lesnar are believed to be an angle for his current WWE storyline.
While evaluating Lesnar’s latest attacks, which included a disruption during the WWE Tag Team Championship rematch between the New Age Outlaws and the Rhodes brothers during the Jan. 27 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” Cole asks Triple H if The Brotherhood would receive another shot at their recently lost gold.
Triple H then announced the match, saying that the Outlaws and the Brotherhood would meet again for the WWE Tag Team titles on “RAW,” but this time inside of a steel cage. “The Game” then drops the hint that the steel cage is supposed to keep all outside interference away from the title bout, however, this usually means someone will be disrupting the match. The New Age Outlaws defeated the Brotherhood at the 27 annual “Royal Rumble” PPV, capturing their sixth WWE Tag Team Championship, and setting a WWE record for the longest break between title reigns at 14 years.
