Shelton Benjamin may return to WWE soon. According to reports from 4-Traders.com, WWE’s VP of Intellectual Property, Lauren A. Dienes-Middlen, applied to trademark “Shelton Benjamin” recently, along with, “AWA American Wrestling Association,” “Beyond The Ring,” “Crush Couture,” “Crush Wear,” “NXT,” “Skull King,” “The Miz” and “Total Divas.”
Benjamin is a former WWE Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, and United States Champion. He previous performed under contract with WWE from 2002-2010. Since his release in ’10, Benjamin has worked for numerous independent promotions such as Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Rumors surrounding Benjamin and WWE have made the rounds around this time each year, as Benjamin has been asked by WWE to return for “Royal Rumble” events before, but not used during the Royal Rumble match as reported. In 2013, Benjamin was reportedly backstage for the Rumble, only to not appear on the show.
Reports claim WWE applied for the trademark for merchandise use, but as the annual rumors begin to swell in regards as to may return to WWE in 2015, Benjamin is now on the list (as usual).
