#9: “Burned” – Kane

As the arena went dark, and a red cloud began to appear on the Titantron, the opening chord of Kane’s “Burned” always evoked an emotional response from every Attitude or Ruthless Aggression Era fan. Whether you loved “The Big Red Machine,” or you hated him, the theme, the entrance, and the pyro set up the drama that was Kane during this time period.

During the Attitude era, “Burned” was the perfect contrast to the Undertaker’s “Graveyard Symphony,” just as Kane was the immaculate antithesis to the “Dead Man” himself. Menacing, evil, and just down right intimidating, “Burned” set a dark tone for the match to come.

When Kane began a transition into more of a babyface tagging with X-Pac in 1999, the theme began to lose the “eerie” edge (as Kane himself did), but it remained intense. You still knew “business was about to pick up” because “The Big Red Machine” was coming down the ramp. From 1999 until his music changed in 2002 to “Slow Chemical” by Finger Eleven, “Burned” ignited the crowd into crazy reactions. The original theme is also the foundation for any other song that has been created for Kane, including his current theme.

Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs, was probably one of the most over superstars between 2000-2002 to never receive a lengthy WWE Championship title run. His original music however, will forever reign as one of the top 10 themes from 1995-2005.
