Roman Reigns will face Bray Wyatt at WWE “Battleground” on July 19. The match was made official and announced during the 2015 edition of “Money In The Bank” on June 14.
Reigns was one of the seven men featured in the 2015 Money in the Bank Ladder Match. As he had cleared the ring and seemingly was set to pull down the briefcase during that bout, the lights when out and Wyatt appeared to attack the would be winner in Reigns.
Wyatt pushed over the ladder Reigns was atop, causing him to collapse to the ground and ending his hopes of capturing the Money in the Bank WWE World Heavyweight Championship contract. This will start an upcoming program between Wyatt and Reigns.
Reigns is poised to likely return to the main event of WrestleMania come April 3, 2016, but he will be “rebuilt” by WWE officials prior to that event. WWE executives feel as though Reigns needs to be babyface, and instead of turning him heel, they are continually putting him against “bad guys” in hopes of fans finally getting behind him as a major face in the company.
Fans are beginning to rally behind Reigns, as they were completely against his push at the beginning of 2015, preferring that WWE place Daniel Bryan in Reigns’ supposedly given spot in the Royal Rumble Match and WrestleMania 31 main event. None-the-less, Reigns will continue to be pushed as a babyface against heels in the company until 2016, with Wyatt being his next victim.
