Global Force Wrestling has been making a major push as of late to advertise its upcoming television tapings July 24 in Las Vegas. It recently announced it would be hosting four divisions with four champions to be crowned, including the NEX*GEN division, similar to TNA’s X-Division with up-and-coming stars from across the globe.
According to PWInsider, GFW has been hit with a cease and desist letter from Ring of Honor regarding how some of the talent are being promoted.
Per Dave Scherer, a source has indicated to him ROH is unhappy with how GFW is using the Ring of Honor branding to promote some of its stars for the tapings. The issue is, ROH has its own iPPV event the same day as the GFW tapings, making it highly unlikely any of the contracted ROH talent would actually be appearing for Jeff Jarrett’s promotion. It is possible in the future there could be cross-promotion, though it seems in this case, there is some major miscommunication on one end.
It is also noted by Johnson ROH has good reason to be very much aware of what is going on in the Las Vegas market from a wrestling standpoint. The company has a very strong presence in the area, airing on two stations, including Destination America. With that said, it would be very easy for the company to find out about any local advertising, which appears to be where this issue stems from.
Not much else is known on the situation at this time, or whether it will have any effect on GFW’s upcoming tapings on Friday.
Editor’s Note
Well that’s just sneaky business if that’s how it was going about. Hopefully it was just a mistake and nothing more.
