The Rock Set to Star in “Furious 8”
Former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has announced that he has signed on to return to the “Fast & Furious” franchise, and is set to star in the film series’ eighth installment, “Furious 8.”
Johnson opened up about his role as Hobbs in the films, as well as what’s on the horizon for “Furious 8,” which is due out in theaters on April 14, 2017. “Furious 7” dropped earlier this year, and has raked in almost $1.5 billion in box-office revenue.
The Rock is rumored to be working a match at WrestleMania 32. The latest news surrounding the match is that he will likely face Triple H in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium on April 3, 2016.
Johnson, in an interview with Collider.com, says the following about whether or not he’d be starring in “Furious 8,”
“Of course. It can’t go on without Hobbs.”
Johnson also discusses the possibility of a spin-off film series being created around his character in the franchise, saying,
“We all are interested in it. I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we’ll see. I still think for me personally we’ve created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That’s my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have to have input.”
