WWE.com is reporting that Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan have been fined by the WWE for their use of “chair shots” in a recent match. During their Street Fight that took place on Monday Night Raw, Bryan leaps headfirst into a steel chair, which is illegal in the WWE. Chair shots to the head have been banned from the WWE since the following amendment was made to their wellness policy in 2010, “WWE has eliminated using folding metal chairs to ‘strike’ an opponent in the head. The WWE penalizes through fine and/or suspension the following: The intentional use of a folding chair to ‘strike an opponent in the head. Any blow to the head that is deemed an intentional act.”
WWE COO Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, had this to say about the fine and the use of the chair during the match, “We don’t allow chair shots to the head in WWE. We understand it was in the heat of the moment but we take this very seriously and as a result, [Orton and Bryan] were fined.” While the amount of the fine remands undisclosed, Orton hints that the amount was large with this comment, “Trust me, it was enough.”
You can watch the entire Street Fight below. The steel chair gets introduced into the match at the 2:52 mark.
