The Wrestling Oberver is reporting that Universal Studios Florida may be the new home of a physical WWE Hall of Fame. Talk of the Orlando-based theme park housing a future “physical” Hall of Fame location began with Triple H said that if they were going to build an actual “Hall of Fame,” that the WWE would want it to be in a tourist location like Orlando. Now word is coming from sources at Universal that says the NBA City location in the park will be shutting down soon, and the WWE Hall of Fame will likely take its place.

Universal Orlando would be a perfect home for a physical WWE Hall of Fame location, as the WWE has ties in that area of Florida already. The new WWE Performance Center is located in The Forsyth Central Commerce Park in Winter Park, Florida directly across from Full Sail University, the current home of WWE’s NXT developmental brand. The new top-of-the-line facility will contain seven wrestling rings, a gym, and high-tech production/edit rooms that will train new and upcoming producers for the company. The Performance Center will help to further WWE’s partnership with Full Sail University, whose students exclusively edit and produce the weekly broadcasts of WWE NXT from the university. The new facility will be the new home of NXT moving forward. The center also boasts a “best-in-class” sports medicine program, creating not only a new place of learning, but a care center for active and developmental WWE talent.

Universal also has previous ties to professional wrestling history, as both WCW and TNA have both filmed programs there. TNA spent the last 10 years of their promotion filming their weekly television show and PPV events at the “IMPACT ZONE,” which was located in Soundstage 21 on the Universal Studios lot in Orlando.
