A new report from F4Wonline.com’s “Wrestling Observer Radio” claims that Paul Heyman was kept off of the Sept. 21 edition of “Monday Night Raw” due to last second script changes. Heyman was reportedly supposed to appear during the program in order to set up the program between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and his opponent for “Hell In A Cell,” but was scrapped from the show due to last minute creative decisions.
According to the report, WWE Creative and Vince McMahon were re-writing the Sept. 21 script as the program was being broadcasted live on television. Script changes were obvious just prior to “RAW” beginning, as the main event had previously been promoted as Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose. The promotional “Five Point Preview” on WWE.com was then altered just an hour before “Monday Night Raw” began with no main event set in stone.
With Lesnar’s new WWE deal demanding a large sum of money be paid out to him per appearance, the company may be evaluating when to have their champion on television and Pay-Per-View. Knowing this, they may be saving Lesnar’s next match for “Survivor Series,” and may go with Orton vs. John Cena, Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose, or Orton vs. Ambrose and Rollins vs . Cena at “Hell In A Cell.”
Heyman’s segment being cut means WWE is weighing their options on what to do with the title next, and that no definitive plan is currently in motion.
Editor’s Note:
I was asking during the show, “Why has Paul Heyman not shown up?” They barely even mentioned Lesnar remaining champion, as the focus was more on Seth Rollins’ interference to set up restlessness between he and Cena. I wonder where they go next if Lesnar doesn’t work “HIAC”. You would think a third match with Cena at “HIAC” would make the title match mean something, and it would add some special meaning to a cell match, which a cell match hasn’t really had since Taker and HHH’s “End of an Era” one at WrestleMania a couple of years ago.
