A new report in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided some insider news on CM Punk’s “TLC” win and heat backstage. Apparently, Punk may have heat with some WWE officials due to his “Twitter” behavior on December 15th, which was the day of the “WWE TLC” Pay-Per-View. The report also discusses the company’s reasoning for booking Punk over The Sheild at “WWE TLC,” only to then book him on the losing end of things the next night on “Monday Night Raw.”
According to the report, rumors of Punk having heat backstage have seeped there way out of the locker room and onto the internet. These rumors claim that some WWE officials are not happy with Punk because he was tweeting about hockey on the day of a PPV. Apparently, WWE officials only want superstars to be talking about WWE-related matters on big “game days” like PPV Sundays. Time will tell if Punk really has any heat on him or not.
In regards to why Punk was booked to win his Handicap Match against The Shield at “WWE TLC,” it was reported that this was booked because John Cena and Daniel Bryan were already slated to lose their respected matches, so Punk being the other notable babyface in the company had to win. Not to mention, the “inadvertent mistake” of Roman Reigns spearing Dean Ambrose during the finish was scripted in order to fuel the eventual break-up of The Shield stable.
During the December 16th edition of “Monday Night Raw,” WWE officials booked Reigns as the man that would actually pin Punk. Reigns has reportedly been being prepped by WWE officials for a major push soon, since they believe he has everything it takes to be a huge star in the company. WWE officials such as Vince McMahon and Triple H will likely never push Punk and/or Daniel Bryan to the moon-and-back because of their perceived “look and size issues,” no matter how over they become with the fans.
Officials also believed that Punk being pinned on “Monday Night Raw” was a non-issue due to his pre-match segment with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. Their thought process was that most people will focus more on the segment in which a match with Michaels is teased, rather than a loss to The Shield.
