Dolph Ziggler being an entrant in the 2014 Royal Rumble Match will be a “game day” decision for WWE officials and doctors alike.
In a recent interview with CBS Cleveland‘s Chris Van Vliet, Ziggler claims that he is set to be at the twenty-seventh annual “Royal Rumble” Pay-Per-View this Sunday. The biggest reason that he will be there is so WWE doctors can evaluate his physical condition. If cleared to compete, Ziggler says that there is a chance the WWE Universe will see “The Show Off” in the Royal Rumble Match.
Ziggler is currently recovering from a serious concussion that he suffered at the hands of Ryback during tapings for “WWE Superstars” on Jan. 6. “The Show Off” claimed that he is healing well and will be evaluated for competition again on Jan. 26, just hours before the “Royal Rumble” goes live at 7:30 P.M. ET.
Rumors surrounded Ziggler’s latest struggle with a concussion, saying that the former World Heavyweight Champion could possibly have to retire because of the severity of the injury. In 2013, Ziggler went through a similar situation, suffering a serious concussion during a Smackdown taping (thanks to a kick to the skull from Jack Swagger).
Hopefully, Ziggler will be cleared to compete again soon and will begin to work with a little more care in the ring. The WWE Universe would be short-changed if “The Show Off” had to retire soon, as he is one of the best workers in WWE. Perhaps he just needs to learn to protect himself a little more.
