In a recent interview with the UK’s Digital Spy, former WWE Champion Chris Jericho comments on if Roman Reigns should main event WrestleMania 31. He also states that WWE officials have likely not set their WrestleMania main event in stone, and will be listening to fan reaction over the next couple of weeks to decide which route they will want to take in terms of the biggest match at the biggest event of the year.
Jericho, who’s currently working for WWE as a Live Event competitor, said the following about Reigns’ potential main event push,
“I think Roman’s doing great, I think there’s a lot of guys doing great, but it all depends on the reaction of the fans and I think right now the next two or three weeks are crucial to see what kind of reaction these guys get and that will decide where they are going to be slotted in WrestleMania. They’re listening to what the crowd is reacting to, and then deciding from there.
If Roman Reigns is getting a great crowd reaction, then there’s a great chance he’s going to get more and more of a push – that’s how things go. I think they probably have a tentative plan already for the top three or four matches at WrestleMania, now they just have to see if the pieces continue to fall into place.”
Different reports have stated that WWE has backup plans in place in case the fans fail to fully get behind Reigns, even some claimed that WWE officials have already thought about having someone else win the 28th annual Royal Rumble match on Jan. 25. However, most evidence points to Reigns winning the Battle Royal and headlining WrestleMania 31 on March 29.
Editor’s Note:
We all assume that Reigns is going to win the Royal Rumble, but I firmly believe that the crowd reaction in Philly on Jan. 25 will determine what happens at WrestleMania 31. If they crap on Reigns big time, then WWE will HAVE to either turn Reigns heel, or go a completely different direction.
