Cesaro suffered an eye injury on “Monday Night Raw.” WWE is reporting that the former United States Champion was poked in the eye during his match against Kofi Kingston during the June 30 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” and will be need to be evaluated over the next 24-48 hours.
WWE.com reports,
“We did some specialized testing and staining of the eye which showed he did have a scratch on the right side of the eye, which is called the sclera and not on the cornea, which is the clear part of the eye,” said Amann. “We’re going to keep his eye patched for the next 24-48 hours, use some artificial tears and re-evaluate him tomorrow prior to his match [against Dolph Ziggler on WWE Main Event].”
Cesaro would turn full heel post-match, obliterating Kingston for the better part of 3 minutes. Cesaro is the favorite to win the Intercontinental Championship during the “Battleground” Battle Royal at the PPV on July 20.
The Intercontinental Championship was vacated during the same episode of “RAW” because of Bad News Barrett’s should injury. Barrett will be out for months now to rehab his shoulder, and the company promptly removed the title from him.
A new Intercontinental Champion will be crowned on July 20, and the front-runner for the strap is Cesaro, as long as his eye heals in time. WrestlingRumors.net will keep you updated on Cesaro’s health and future.
Editor’s Note:
Wow. This could not have happened at a worse time. Cesaro is likely the next IC Champion. Would NOT be good if he gets seriously hurt here. Hopefully, the scratch on his eye will heal soon.
