Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode claims he will enter the GFW World Heavyweight Championship Tournament during Global Force Wrestling’s inaugural television taping on July 24. As previously reported, the event will take place in Las Vegas.

Roode, who is still under contract with TNA Wrestling, took to Twitter following “IMPACT WRESTLING” on July 1 to make his claim. Not only did he reveal this information through his Twitter account, he routed his followers to a taped promo featured on the official GFW Youtube channel.

Roode’s participation in the tournament, as well as his presence on GFW social media unofficially confirms that TNA and GFW will be working together moving forward. Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” recently claimed that an “invasion” angle is set to go down between the two companies.

Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion and owner of GFW Jeff Jarrett recently returned to “IMPACT WRESTLING,” competed in and won the King of the Mountain Match at “Slammiversary,” and has made recent tweets about “something big” on the horizon for GFW. With the company not having a TV deal at the moment, it seems like a partnership between the two companies would work two-fold.

TNA would get a roster exchange with the GFW locker room, and vice versa, as well as GFW would get some television exposure during “IMPACT WRESTLING” on Destination America. Jim Ross recently spoke on how this relationship could benefit GFW in a blog post on his official website.

While no one knows how this “invasion” will affect both companies just yet, or when the angle will begin happening on “IMPACT WRESTLING,” we should know soon enough. TNA’s next set of television tapings are in July, and they will be taping almost two months worth of TV. This means, if an “invasion” angle is in fact happening, spoilers should give some insight into what it will look like once the TV tapings begin.

Roode, being a TNA superstar vying to become GFW’s first ever World Heavyweight Champion, could set off the angle should he win the title on July 24. You can watch his promo for the event in the video embedded below.

Editor’s Note:

What is happening right now? This…this just seems odd to me. Jon Alba…I know you want to hurt someone over all this. I’ll let Dixie know you’re coming…with table in hand.
