It has been previously reported that the re-launch of the XFL will be taking place in February 2020, with teams being hosted in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa and Washington, D.C.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the league is expected to announce their television broadcasting agreements within the next few weeks. The interest in the renewed league has been quite high, and stations are wanting live sports and football more than anything.
Here’s a reminder of what the previous XFL looked like:
The XLF is currently in the interview process to find the people who will be running the eight teams; most notably the coaches and star quarterbacks. They are wanting to have the quarterbacks signed by the end of March, so that they can start marketing the coaches and quarterbacks in the local areas.
It is being reported that they are paying up to $300,000 for the quarterback position.
The XFL is being seen as a place for players who do not think that they will make it to the NFL, as they are wanting to sign talent to multi-year deals.
Editor’s Opinion:
If they do this right, the XFL could be serious competition for the NFL. With all of the current negativity surrounding the game and if Vince McMahon can learn from his past mistakes, this could be a real game changer (pun intended).
