It has been previously reported that WWE was potentially setting up a match between AJ Styles and “Smackdown Live” commissioner Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33.

While it has only been a rumor at this point, a new development may give some legitimacy to this claim.

According to WrestlingInc.com, Styles has been added to appear at the March 13 “Smackdown Live” Live Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This, coincidentally, is the same event that McMahon is scheduled to appear at.

While this may not mean anything, it could add some strength to the rumored match between the two.

“The Phenomenal One” is coming off a loss at “Elimination Chamber,” where he was unable to capture the WWE Championship. In that match, Bray Wyatt defeated Styles, John Cena, The Miz, Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin to capture his first singles title in WWE.

Editor’s Note:

I’m not sure if I want to see this match or not. I don’t think that I do, because Styles certainly should be able to find a better opponent at WrestleMania than McMahon. But, I’ve been wrong before, so we’ll see what happens.
