Back in October, Austin Aries suffered a pretty nasty eye injury during a match with Shinsuke Nakamura, and during his time off, he’s been doing a fantastic job as a color commentator for WWE’s cruiserweight division. However, his commentating days might be coming to an end very soon, as he is ready for an in-ring return.

When asked about Aries’ status on Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that the 38 year old is ready to return to action. He also weighed in on whether or not WWE will hire a new commentator to replace him.

“Austin Aries is healthy and ready to go right now. They’re just saving [his in-ring return] for the angle. Will [WWE] get a new third guy? I don’t know. They seem to want to have three guys in every booth.”

As of right now, it looks like Aries will challenge Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania 33. It also looks like he won’t return to NXT, and that he’ll be one of the faces of the cruiserweight division.

How would you book the Austin Aries vs. Neville WrestleMania 33 feud? Do you think Aries will win the Cruiserweight Championship on April 2? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Facebook!
