However, he took a break from all of that to show us his humorous side for one night.
Last night, Cena was the host of “Saturday Night Live,” and provided us with both some incredibly entertaining moments, and others that fell a bit flat.
The highlight of the night for me was when he played New England Patriots’ Tight End Rob Gronkowski, in a skit called “Where Did My Money Go?” This was a hilarious sketch that featured Kenan Thompson as Charles Barkley, who is in my opinion, the greatest analyst in the history of all of sports:
The opening monologue established Cena has a WWE superstar, and featured wrestling-themed promos and from Bobby Moynihan and Leslie Jones:
Cena also played a sexy employee in an erotic bookstore, an owl handler on a talent show, and more.
Personally, I thought that although entertaining and hilarious at times, the show overall featured a bunch of weird skits, and bizarre characters that didn’t really do it for me. Such is the nature of sketch comedy.
Oh, and Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong are national treasures. Watch “Weekend Update” and you’ll know what I mean.
