WWE “Raw” Women’s Champion Sasha Banks was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated as a part of their “extra mustard” series. She made several interesting comments covering a wide variety of subjects.

A 3-time women’s champion on the main roster, Banks has competed in many dangerous matches in recent memory. These include a “Hell in a Cell” match, as well as a no-disqualifcation, no-countout, falls-count-anywhere match last week on “Monday Night Raw.” These intense battles give her a unique perspective for those who say that wrestling is ‘fake.’

“I think the biggest misconception is that — I don’t know, that I guess people think it’s fake. When it’s not, I get beat up every single week, I go home with bruises, always banged up, but it’s something that I love so much that I just I always keep pushing, it’s what I love. People think that — I hate that, I hate that people think it’s fake but if they got in the ring and they took a bump like we do every single week, legit travel like we travel every single week they would so appreciate every thing we did.”

It’s been noted on several occasions, and noticed by WWE fans, that banks was inspired and motived by the late Eddie Guerrero.

“There wouldn’t be Sasha Banks if there wasn’t Eddie Guerrero, he was truly my idol. I still look up to him to this day. Everything I do in the ring, I think ‘would Eddie do that? Would Eddie be proud of me?’ And if I got to meet him I would just tell him thank you. He changed my life and I would not be the person I am today if I never saw him wrestle the first time I did.”

When “The Boss” finally rides off into the sunset, what does she want people to most remember about her?

“I just want people to remember that I was the greatest women’s wrester of all time. That’s the ultimate goal and I wrote that down in my journal when I was 10. I would love to be a Hall Of Famer and I would love to just keep being in this company because it’s what I love so much and it’s the only thing I know.”

In the interview, she also discusses how she fell in love with the business, the hardest part about being in WWE, as well as breaking character when she goes home.
