This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. According to a report from Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling, there is belief within WWE that MJF has re-signed a contract with AEW and will not be heading to WWE when his deal expires at the end of this year.

The report states that WWE sources believe Friedman has quietly re-signed with AEW, with one higher-up WWE official stating that there have been “zero talks” between the two sides. They further noted that the idea that MJF is set to enter free agency imminently is a “false narrative” and that they believe he has re-signed through 2027.

Some quotes from the sources:

“This is a completely in-his-head storyline.”

“I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.”

We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they are made available to us.

Editor’s Opinion:

While this is disappointing, it’s certainly not surprising. With as big of a troll as MJF tends to be with the Internet wrestling fans, it’s no surprise that he would continue to be with AEW, even though he has been teasing jumping ship for a long time. Obviously, he is one of the greatest superstars in the world and has the opportunity to do whatever he wants, so, if this makes him happy, all the more power to him!
