He's Next? WWE Reportedly Planning Major Push For New Star, Special Role

Next one up? There are certain wrestlers who have been around so long that they are practically institutions. These are the stars that have been in a promotion or in a specific role for so long that it is hard to imagine anyone taking their place. At some point someone is going to have to though, and now we might be seeing a new generational star taking over an important role.

One of the bigger stories on SmackDown at the moment is Santos Escobar turning on Rey Mysterio and the LWO. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the plan is for Dragon Lee to be added to the story in some way, with the idea of Mysterio endorsing Lee as the future. There has also been talk of Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo joining Escobar in some way, though it is not clear how or when that would happen.

Opinion: This is something that has to be done at some point as Mysterio is nearly 50 years old and has been a major star for such a long time now. If WWE thinks Lee is ready to be the next big thing then go with it, as he certainly has shown all kinds of potential. What matters is setting things up right, and for now things seem to be well on their way for almost everyone involved.
