Those are the kinds of wrestlers who might do something that stands out more than anyone else, even if it has nothing to do with what they are doing in the ring. That seems to be the case again, as an EW star is doing something you do not hear about very often.

Over the weekend at AEW Full Gear, commentary mentioned that Darby Allin was leaving to prepare to climb Mount Everest. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, while Allin will not be climbing the mountain immediately, he will be missing time from AEW to train for the climb. The climb is expected to take place in 2024, though it is not clear how long Allin will be away from AEW TV.

Opinion: That is certainly a unique situation and not something you often hear as a reason for a wrestler to miss time from television. Then again Allin is certainly a different kind of star and climbing a mountain is something that suits him. At the same time, it’s going to be a lot to have him missing from AEW for that long, so hopefully the promotion has a way around his absence.
