He says that you better call somebody, and WWE listened. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Brian “Road Dogg” James stepped down this past week as the co-head writer of Smackdown Live.
According to the report, James was co-head writer with Steve Guerrieri, better known as Steve G. Steve G rarely went to the television tapings, and worked out of Stamford during the week, while James would take care of things live at the show.
While James wasn’t in the office all the time, he become increasingly frustrated with the long hours. He would split time between his home in Pensacola, Florida, Skyping into the meetings that would take place all night, and being in Stamford and attending them live until all hours of the morning. James became increasingly frustrated with working so many hours to put together a show, only to have it torn apart and changed by Vince McMahon at the production meetings on the day of the show.
Also, McMahon had torn into James more than once about both continuity issues on the show, as well as defending problems with the show if someone had pointed them out.
The Road Dogg has had some recently happy times, however; he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2019 as a member of D-Generation X:
Editor’s Opinion:
Is it me, or does Vince McMahon seem like a loose cannon? He seems so neurotic at times, as he appears to be chill one day, and then furious the next. I guess when you run a billion dollar empire, these things tend to happen.
