Paige Officially Announces Her Retirement From In-Ring Competition

It had been previously reported that WWE superstar Paige would be forced to retire from in-ring competition, due to neck injuries that she had sustained. However, she had never said anything about it on the company’s programming.

Until tonight.

During a segment on tonight’s episode of “Raw,” Paige took to the microphone to explain her situation. During an emotional speech, she announced that she was officially retiring from competing due to injury.

Citing medical reasons, Paige made the difficult decision to retire from in-ring competition during the April 9 edition of Monday Night Raw after four years in WWE.

In an emotional address, the brave Superstar thanked Daniel Bryan for his inspiration, WWE Hall of Famer Edge for showing her there is life after sports-entertainment, the WWE Universe for their support and WWE for allowing her to do what she loves to do.

A trailblazing Superstar who won the Divas Championship in her Monday Night Raw debut, Paige truly made the most of her four-year career and will surely find tremendous success in whatever she chooses to do next.

Editor’s Opinion:

I’m glad that WWE finally acknowledged her medical condition and gave the opportunity to give a farewell address. Although she had some problems outside of the ring, there is no doubt that she was a huge reason for the success of the Women’s Division in WWE. I hope that she can remain with the company, either as a manager or commentator; she would be amazing in either role!
