The next NXT special may end up with other competitors “walking the plank.”

It was announced on WWE.com earlier this week that the winner of the “Mae Young Classic,” Kairi Sane, will be a part of “NXT Takeover: Houston,” as she will be challenging for the vacated NXT Women’s Championship. It has not been revealed who her opponent will be at this time.

You can hear the “Pirate Princess'” thoughts on this historic announcement here:

Kairi Sane will compete for the NXT Women's Title at TakeOver: Houston: Exclusive, Sept. 13, 2017

The NXT Women’s Championship has been vacant since September 6, when then-champion Asuka surrendered the title to General Manager William Regal. It has since been announced that she will be heading to “Raw,” although her official debut date has not been confirmed.

Asuka held the NXT Women’s Championship for 523 days prior to her relinquishing of the title.

Editor’s Note:

This is exactly what Kairi Sane needs to be doing, after winning the “Mae Young Classic.” She will be a perfect for NXT as she continues to hone her craft and become more accustomed to the style of wrestling in America. While I don’t think she will win the title, I wouldn’t be shocked if she was victorious in her first title match!
