It would seem that this year’s season of Mixed Match Challenge is cursed, as multiple superstars have been replaced due to injury. This trend is continuing, as WWE has announced that Finn Balor will no longer be able to be Bayley’s partner in the semifinals, due to injury.
However, the tournament will continue, as Apollo Crews has been named as Bayley’s replacement partner. You can see the announcement video below:
It had been previously reported that the winner of this year’s tournament will not only have the opportunity to enter the Royal Rumble in the #30 position, but also gets to take a paid vacation anywhere in the world.
The semifinals of this year’s tournament will take place tonight after Smackdown Live, with Crews and Bayley taking on the team of Alicia Fox and Jinder Mahal. On the Blue Brand, The Miz and Asuka will clash with R-Truth and Carmella. The winners of these matches will face each other this Sunday at the TLC pay-per-view.
Editor’s Opinion:
With Balor being the latest casualty, this season really has been cursed. I hope that the WWE brass won’t see this as a sign to pull the plug on this event, because the chemistry between these teams is unbelievable. They are able to be themselves, and be more entertaining then they are on normal WWE programming!
