WWE.com posted the following article on their website not too long after “Monday Night Raw” went off the air this evening:
Cesaro suffered multiple contusions to the lumbar spine during his match against Sheamus Monday on Raw, WWE.com can confirm.
Late in the match, Sheamus backdropped Cesaro into the turnbuckle before locking him in the Cloverleaf. The victory puts Sheamus up 2-0 in their Best of Seven Series.
As mentioned, Cesaro and Sheamus were competing in the second match of their Best-of-Seven series, with the winner receiving a title shot, according to General Manager Mick Foley. Sheamus picked up the first victory over Cesaro at “SummerSlam,” and the second one this evening.
This continues the string of major injuries that have sidelined WWE superstars recently. Sasha Banks has been suffering from nagging injuries, and Finn Bálor is going to be out of action for 6 months, following a shoulder injury sustained at “SummerSlam.”
We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as soon as they become available to us.
Editor’s Note:
When things go bad, they go bad. First Banks, then Bálor. In addition, Shelton Benjamin was informed that he won’t be able to return to the company due to injury earlier this month. Hopefully this doesn’t mean anything too bad for Cesaro, and that we see him back and ready to go in a very short amount of time.
