We’ll see what happens. According to a report from Fightful Select, AEW held a talent meeting before last Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. This is in the wake of the drama that occurred at the media scrum for All Out, featuring CM Punk and The Elite.
Although there are few details at this time, the meeting was reportedly held by Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley for wrestlers, managers, announcers, and referees. The meeting was said to have been received well by all in attendance.
Jericho was credited for stepping up as a backstage presence, and one young star stated that his resolve at the press scrum after the brawl happened was a great example to be set. Another talent said Danielson’s general friendly demeanor was “calming.”
One talent stated, “A big part of Punk’s promo was about people who hadn’t been anywhere or done anything, and there were three guys who have done almost everything he’s done if not more leading the charge. It wasn’t anti-Punk or anything, but you can never have anyone say they didn’t do anything in this business. Or guys like Paul (Wight), Mark (Henry), Matt (Hardy), or Regal, for example. We have plenty of great people to go to advice for and take direction from if needed.”
We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they are made available to us.
Editor’s Opinion:
This is probably the best thing they could’ve done in this situation. There are a lot of problems right now in AEW, but the talent will be the best way to keep the morale going during these trying times. If they can rally together to keep the ship afloat, it might be the boost that this company needs to stay alive.
