In a recent interview with Mashable, WWE’s EVP of Digital Perkins Miller announced the debut of a “Social Hub“, which will make its debut on the WWE homepage during SummerSlam this Sunday.
I think the biggest core social activation here is with our new social hub. Literally just six or seven years ago, this was just one three-hour event. But now we’ve seen how we can use social media as the glue that connects all of these things for our fans who can’t be in Los Angeles as well as the fans who are there. It creates a unified experience we weren’t able to have before.
The Social Hub will allow fans to interact with one another in a live chat, which will also feature participating WWE superstars, as well. The usual photos, videos and stories will appear during the event, but now fans can filter what information they want to see.
Also, during the pre-show and PPV, SummerSlam host The Miz will be utilizing Google Glass, demonstrating the technology throughout the night.
