The recent “NXT Takeover: Rival” show on Feb. 11 drew high praise from wrestling media and fans alike, further solidifying the brand as one of the hottest things going in WWE today.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, WWE main roster superstars are becoming increasingly frustrated with the opportunities NXT talent have to compete in the ring, while they’re stuck with short and meaningless bouts on television.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter added the following to his message board:

“So story is accurate but it’s inherent. It was the same thing in the OVW days, well not exactly the same, but similar. I get DMs from people on the main roster always after those specials. It’s a common frustration. The top NXT performers are frustrated they aren’t on the main roster making money. Then they will get more frustrated when they realize their dream. WWE guys are frustrated they aren’t having the matches guys in NXT are when they know if they can perform before 400 fans in longer matches they can tear the house down.”

A similar report emerged following “NXT Takeover: R Evolution” in December, with certain superstars being “jealous” of how NXT is being booked.

The NXT stars aren’t making the money, yet they’re the ones receiving all of the applause and adulation.

Editor’s Note

The main roster has every right to be frustrated, frankly. It’s two different brands with two different ways of booking. NXT puts more of an emphasis on wrestling, while WWE programming concentrates more on entertaining and pushing storylines.
