As we reported Sunday evening here at WrestlingRumors.net, WWE superstar Santino Marella has officially retired from in-ring competition.

Marella cut an in-ring promo to the people of Toronto during a WWE live event that day, letting fans know that because of a third neck injury, he would no longer be able to wrestle.

(h/t Buzz Canada)

Marella is Canadian, having been born in Mississauga, Ontario. He regrets never being billed from Ontario, although his character is primarily Italian.

He recently opened a training facility in the area to help teach students the skills of professional wrestling and MMA.

Editor’s Note

Santino’s true value came in the form of entertaining promos and skits. While he was skilled in the ring as a competitor, his humor on the mic is where he really shined. Although he will never wrestle again, I’m sure WWE will find a way to use him, albeit in a different role.
