As announced during the September 17th tapings for Friday Night SmackDown, Alberto Del Rio will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against challenger Rob Van Dam at the WWE’s next PPV, Battleground.
COO Triple H gave RVD a rematch for the title during a backstage segment on the show.
At WWE Night of Champions, RVD defeated Del Rio via disqualification after Alberto failed to release his Cross ArmBreaker submission hold at the count of five.
