Santino Marella Announces His Wrestling Career is Over

Several readers sent in live updates to our friends at Wrestlezone.com from a WWE live event in Toronto on Sunday night.

According to those reports, Santino Marella addressed the live crowd, informing everyone that he had suffered a third neck injury and that his in-ring career was over.

Marella is a native of Canada, having been born in Mississauga, Ontario. He regrets never being billed from Ontario, although his character is primarily Italian.

His last official match with WWE was on “Monday Night Raw” on June 16, losing a Battle Royale that was eventually won by Roman Reigns.

For the better part of 2014, Marella had been paired with Emma, feuding with the likes of Fandango and Summer Rae.

In fact, Santino had been paired with several beautiful women in the past, including Maria, Tamina and Beth Phoenix.

Marella (real name: Anthony Carelli) ends his WWE career as a former World Tag Team Champion with Vladimir Kozlov, a two-time Intercontinental Champion and one-time United States Champion.

He recently opened a training facility in Toronto called “Battle Arts Academy” to help train students in professional wrestling and MMA.

There’s no word yet as to whether Santino will be gone from the company entirely, or if he’ll still be used in a different non-wrestling role.
