Report: Team Bella vs. Paige, Charlotte and Sasha Banks at WWE "SummerSlam"

It’s painfully obvious that WWE Diva Paige needs some assistance in her war against Team Bella (Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox).

Perhaps a couple of ladies from NXT can help her get the job done.

PWInsider.com is reporting that NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Charlotte will both be appearing at WWE “SummerSlam.” The two will team with Paige in a six-Divas tag team match against Team Bella.

Sasha and Charlotte may be pulling double duty, though, as NXT is set to hold an “NXT:Takeover” event the night before on Aug. 22. While the card has yet to be announced, it’s safe to assume that they’ll both be competing.

The report notes that WWE’s original plan would have been to debut Bayley instead of Sasha, but that changed after Bayley broke her hand.

Sasha defeated Charlotte, along with Bayley and Becky Lynch, in a Fatal 4-Way match at “NXT Takeover: Rival” on Feb. 11, becoming the third champion in the brand’s history.

Nikki is currently on the second-longest reign as WWE Divas Champion ever, holding the gold for 226 days and counting. The belief is that she will break AJ Lee’s record of 295 days before dropping the belt.

It’s about damn time. While it’s surprising to hear that Sasha will be thrust into an immediate face role, it’s safe to assume that it won’t last very long. WWE has teased for a while that Naomi and Tamina Snuka would be siding with Paige, but no one wants to see that. This is the way to go to keep fans invested in the storyline. It’s a lot to see two NXT ladies debut at the same time, although there’s no denying that they certainly deserve this reported opportunity. It will be a nice shot in the arm for a division that desperately needs some new stars.
